3 Things I Live By

Someone once asked me to sum up my core beliefs in 3 words. The 3 that I hope I will always pick are:

Love, Joy, and Passion.

Passion:
I am an extremely passionate person. Whether it be my favorite book being turned into a movie, music, or even social issues; I take a stand and I stand on it hard.
(Don't ask me about the Chronicles of Narnia movies, just don't.)
This used to cause me a lot of problems, being misunderstood mainly. What's great about growing up! You learn which battles to fight. You decide what to stand up for, what to let go of, and what things you would like to learn more about. I do believe in standing up for something that you feel strongly about, but I also believe that we are best as individuals when we hear each other out and take a few minutes to breathe and listen to what's going on in the world. A few friends in particular have taught me that: Kiri, and my husband being the main two.

Rabbit Trail: Seriously if you love art (and a very strong woman who loves to speak her mind) you have to go over to Kiri's blog. She's amazing.

Joy:
I believe in joy; not happiness, joy. I believe in joy over happiness because joy is my choice. I can choose at any point that I'm going to defy my circumstances and be joyful instead. I can be joyful whenever I want. Happiness is an idea of circumstance and this world is just too heinous to count on happiness to get me through life. My circumstantial moments do not make me. I can, and do, choose to have a smile on my face and a kind word to say. I want to impact the people who meet me because they see kindness. Joy is my choice and I will choose it every time.

My friend Cara is an awesome example of joy.

Love:
Everyone strives for love. Everyone thirsts for it. We all crave what love contributes to our quality of life. I believe that love goes deeper than just what I see on this earth, my friends, or my family. Although some of the best examples of love have been from these very important individuals in my life I firmly believe that I wouldn't know the full concept of love without Jesus. I don't believe joy and passion would mean as much to me without love. Love is ambiguous and it's hard to understand, but I want to love people. I believe that all people deserve to be loved and if no one else can show someone love, maybe I can in some small way.
This is what truly gets me out of bed every morning. Love keeps me alive.
